The reimagined Loch Ness Centre has opened following a £1.5 million investment, where guests can delve into the story behind the global phenomena and continue the search for Nessie themselves

Located at the old Drumnadrochit Hotel, where, 90 years ago, the hotel manageress Mrs Aldie Mackay, reported seeing a ‘water beast’ in Loch Ness, the new Loch Ness Centre is a modern immersive journey at the true home of the Nessie story.

During the one-hour experience at the Loch Ness Centre, guests will become part of the quest themselves, and discover the real stories behind the search and meet many of its real, historic characters too.

Guests will walk through eight immersive rooms, covering the history of the search, and the scientific research carried out by Loch Ness researcher Adrian Shrine, including real artefacts like a mini submarine, and underwater cameras. There will also be the chance to explore some of the most famous sighings and hoax’s linked to Nessie, and to meet old and young Mrs Aldie Mackay herself, and learn how her one sighting changed history forever.

If you are keen to continue the search, there is also a unique opportunity to explore the depths of Loch Ness themselves on a cruise onboard the Loch Ness Centre’s vessel, Deepscan.

Juliana Delaney, Chief Executive of Continuum, said of the Loch Ness Centre: ‘This must be one of the world’s greatest stories and it deserved a more modern and immersive presentation, which I hope we have delivered. We are very aware we are only temporary guardians of this amazing legend and we want to invest in keeping the search alive.’
