There is no better way to discover the Caledonian Canal and the magnificent Great Glen, including the iconic Loch Ness, than on an all-inclusive activity break, staying aboard one of Caledonian Discovery’s two comfortable, crewed barges.

Each day is an adventure, offering the perfect balance of activities and relaxation. Your chosen barge, be it Ros Crana or Fingal, will come with six en-suite cabins, a resident chef, and friendly crew, who will cruise with you for the duration of your holiday.

Whichever cruise you choose, there will be a range of activities to complement it. Enjoy an exhilarating day cycling or walking along the Great Glen, or take to the water in one of the four lochs, including Loch Ness, aboard a canoe or sailing boat, making the most of the opportunities to see the amazing wildlife.

After a busy day of exploration, each evening the crew and guests will assemble for a splendid meal, created by the chef, who uses only the best, and freshest ingredients. The remaining crew members – the skipper, mate and guide – will join the guests to share stories of their recent adventures and discuss plans for the following day.

Enjoy a relaxing evening aboard your barge, after a day exploring

Our two cosy and comfortable barges travel the length of the Caledonian Canal between Inverness and Fort William. Each barge has been lovingly converted to provide a fun holiday for up to 12 guests and crew, with no cars involved, allowing guests to appreciate the beauty of the area without disturbing the peaceful environment.

While both scenery and accommodation set the scene for a magical break, our crew with their passion for the Great Glen bring the journey to life. By travelling on foot or bike you can explore the more remote areas of the Glen, and your local guide will help connect you with the history of the area and the local wildlife.

With a range of dedicated cruises lasting from four to seven days, you can walk, cycle, or canoe the 70 or so miles of the Caledonian Canal, or stay aboard and enjoy the comfort of the barge as you take in the views.

If you, like us, are captivated by scenery, inspired by history, fascinated by wildlife, and invigorated by outdoor activities, then this is the cruise for you. Come and join us for the perfect balance of peace and adventure where the sense of freedom and space offered will ensure you’ll want to return whenever your spirits need a little restoration.
