British Coast Guide Video Competition prize awarded
Winner of the British Coast Guide's Video Competition Archie Short was recently presented with his award in London. A student of Filmmaking at Leeds Metropolitan University, Archie's home is near Inverness, and he is currently studying in Prague. Archie won £1000 worth of video equipment for his short film of Orkney, which is now featured on the home page of www.britishcoastguide.com
Speaking at the Houses of Parliament after the prizegiving, Archie said "My favourite place to be filming is around the sea and big cliffs, it feels amazing to have won "
Over a hundred entries were received by the British Coast Guide and most can be seen on the website. Of the five films shortlisted, Archie was the clear winner, with second place being taken by Stuart Morris with a video of Portland in Dorset.
For 2012, British Coast Guide is inviting members of the public to vote for their favourite coastal hotspots in Britain. There are over 250 to choose from, and the opportunity to suggest additional places. Voting has got off to a good start, and from March, British Coast Guide will be announcing monthly winners.
