Scottish Hotel Awards

We are proud to present theregional winners for 2018

The past few years have seen incredible  gains across the Scottish tourism scene  as the strength of ‘Brand Scotland’  is bolstered at home and abroad by the  continued success of venues such as the  SSE Hydro, arts celebrations such as the  Edinburgh festivals, tourism initiatives such  as the North Coast 500, and the ongoing  international phenomenon that is the  Outlander television series.

It is undeniable that the success of Outlander  reflects a general rise in Scotland’s worldwide  status and popularity. In fact, last year readers  of the prestigious publication Rough Guides  named Scotland as the most beautiful country  in the world and only a year before those  same readers named Scotland as the most  welcoming country in the world. The story  made headlines but, of course, readers of  Scotland Magazine knew both of these things  to be true already!

It was in the spirit of the latter accolade  that the Scottish Hotel Awards were founded  and each year these awards celebrate those  champions of hospitality who are responsible  for Scotland’s unrivalled reputation for a  warm welcome. The Scottish Hotel Awards  are presented to the very best places to stay,   eat and drink, and are very much based on  the judges’ experience of a year-round high  standard of hospitality and personal service.

What’s more, the Scottish Hotel Awards  researchers have the vital role of seeking out  and observing the passion, drive, care and  commitment of individual team members  who go that extra mile - the unsung heroes  behind the scenes, as well as those who work  front of house. The People of Excellence  awards exist in order to recognise and reward  these stellar ambassadors of the Scottish hotel  industry. All are a credit to the country.

On the following pages we are proud  to present the winners of the 2018 awards  for each of the nine SHA regions: Argyll &  Lomond, Borders, Central & Fife, Edinburgh  & The Lothians, Glasgow & Clyde, Highlands,  Islands, North East, and South West. All of  the hotels and individuals named here now  progress to the next round and will be visited  again by the judges before the overall national  winners are named for each category. These  results will be announced at the Scottish Hotel  Awards gala dinner and published in the next  issue of Scotland Magazine.
