Hogmanay December 31, 2009 Enjoy Scotland's world famous Hogmanay celebrations with a variety of events across the country. From a true Glasgow welcome in George Square to Stonehaven's colourful fireball procession; from the spectacular surroundings of Stirling Castle's Esplanade to soaking up the family atmosphere at Oban's Hogmanay Street party.

Open returns to St Andrews July 15 – 18 2010 The Open Championship will return to St Andrews in 2010, from 15 to 18 July. It will mark the 150th anniversary of the playing of the first Open in 1860 at Prestwick.

On 17 October 1860, a mere eight players competed over three rounds of 12 holes against a bogey of 144. From that humble beginning The Open has grown to be recognised throughout the world as the most venerable of the four Majors.

Aberdeen's Winter Festival Winter's Trails December 10 – 13 2009 Aberdeen Afun and exciting re-enactment set in the Tolbooth and La Lombarda. A tour to explore the dark history of the Tolbooth, Aberdeen's 17th century prison, and a chance to meet the gaoler and town minister as they prepare to receive new prisoners sent by the Protestant authorities who were trying to ‘ban Christmas'.
