Scrabster seafood restaurant The Captain’s Galley has been voted Best Fish Restaurant in the UK by the Which? Good Food Guide 2009.

One of just 10 restaurants highlighted, The Captain’s Galley serves sustainable seafood landed less than 100 meters from its front door, and is the only restaurant in Scotland to net the coveted title.

Editor Elizabeth Carter said in the Guide: “It’s a treat to find a small, friendly space offering such a wealth of locally sourced seafood – its harbour location gives views of the local boats bringing in the day’s catch.” Ardanaiseig hotel has launched a new website, packed with picturesque images and tempting deals. Find it at: To celebrate the revival of its traditional smokehouse, Kinnaird Hotel, Restaurant & Sporting Estate has prepared an innovative new Smoked Tasting Menu, to offer guests a truly distinctive cuisine.

The new menu features such delights as smoked salmon and caviar pancakes & lightly smoked apple tart tatin.

Lennoxlove House, one of Scotland’s premier historic country homes, has been awarded a five-star rating as an exclusive use venue.

Assessors particularly noted that the House was ‘full of history’ and that the ‘displays of family artifacts, art collection and priceless pieces of furniture’ gave the house a distinctive element; while bedrooms and suites had been refurbished to a universally ‘high standard’.

The Jumeirah Group, which operates the world’s most luxurious hotel in Dubai, is to build a 26-storey hotel in Glasgow’s Argyle Street. It will have 160 luxury rooms, a rooftop cocktail lounge, swimming pool, health spa and gym and extensive conference facilities. The eyecatching new building will have great views across the city and will open in 2011.
