Royal approval for new marine centre

HRH The Princess Royal has officially opened a brand new marine centre on the Isle of Mull.

Taigh Solais is a new state of the art marine centre and pontoon, offering sanctuary to seafarers in the beautiful and historic Tobermory harbour.

The centre offers facilities for sea users and houses an interactive visitors’ centre for local marine wildlife operators managed by Sea Life Surveys.

Tobermory Harbour Association will have its new head office in the building, and six further offices will be available for local businesses to let. Taigh Solais also boasts a stunning boardroom at the top of a tower with 360º panoramic views across the bay.

Princess Anne has visited Tobermory frequently and showed her appreciation of the development by talking to everyone individually. The crowd were then entertained by music and dance and displays including a Sea King Helicopter and lifeboat rescue exercise.
