New look for Thurso

Work has begun on a major project to restore a much loved building in Thurso to its former glory and to turn it into a high quality facility for the local community and visitors alike.

The £3.5m project, spearheaded by Caithness Horizons, will transform the Town Hall into a museum, visitor centre and exhibition facility to promote the tourism attractions and places of interest to visit throughout the area.

The redevelopment project will also include substantial renovation work of the adjacent Carnegie Library.

The new-look facility will be completed in 2008 and is expected to substantially increase visitor numbers to Caithness and the North Highlands.
